On the Home page you will find some trigger questions about the health status of your organisation's physical risk profile.  We hope it triggers you to take action.

The Home page includes bullet points on what differentiates PRC.  We regard vendor neutrality as being a key imperative of our business model and treasure the fact that we are a proudly independent consulting company.  PRC achieved a clean bill of health during a recent Deloitte due diligence audit.

The About Us page provides some background on the company.

On the Services page we have included an illustrative representation of our service offering.

The Articles page is another addition to our web presence.  Here we shall regularly post relevant articles across the physical risk consulting lifecycle.  We hope to attract external writers across the security spectrum to contribute to this section to make for a valued read.

Our section on Current Projects provides you with actual case studies of the company we keep, value added and what keeps us occupied in the market.

We have expanded the Services Enquiries page for you to select one or more of the services you require, complete your contact details, add any enquiries or comments and hit the submit button.  Once successfully submitted, a PRC consultant will contact you at the soonest convenience.

> BUSINESS BRIEF MAGAZINE FEATURE ARTICLE – BUSINESS SECURITY <

PRC was privileged to be interviewed by Mr. Graeme Swinney, Editor of BusinessBrief magazine, for a contribution to a very relevant feature article on business security.  Said article was featured in the October/November 2008 edition of BusinessBrief.

Herewith extracts from the published article for your convenience:

“Businesses in South Africa and around the world face a considerable number of threats today.  Many South African companies have poor security both in the physical and cyber sense, while others may be better protected in one area than they are in another.  Whatever the threat, it is critical for any organisation, no matter how large or small, to protect themselves from those events that threaten their sustainability.  Just how do we protect and secure our businesses then?”

“...according to the Consumer Good Council of South Africa, 2007 was a costly year for businesses, with R3,5 billion worth of goods having been pilfered through shoplifting, fraud and robberies alone.”

“But there is more to security than just the physical security of staff members, equipment and goods, suggests Kris Budnik, Director, Enterprise Risk Services at Deloitte.  What needs to be considered is the entire risk ‘perimeter’ of a specific business, including its ‘logical’ security; the protection of its data, information and intellectual property.”

“Wayne Hermanson of Physical Risk Consultancy, who has consulted to high profile individuals and companies around the world says that the first step in assessing an organisation’s vulnerabilities is to do a vulnerability assessment.  Each organisation has its own set of ‘adversaries’, which must be established and then defended against in ‘depth’.  So, for example the major threats to the sustainability of your corner café may be robberies, while a publishing company would be highly reliant on its IT infrastructure and particularly vulnerable to viruses and power cuts.”

“Hermanson agrees that physical security and logical security must be dealt with as one, particularly as the two are becoming increasingly intertwined.  He points out that cyber criminals are no less criminals than ATM bombers, and a staff member who is killed in a carjacking may take a considerable amount of intellectual property with him.”

“He also notes that such a ‘total’ approach to security brings numerous benefits and potential savings to an organisation.  So, for example, a guarding company may not just control access to a business, but may have included among its tasks the job of preventing pilfering from a production line.  And an access control system may also be used to monitor employee timekeeping.  Security should become a business enabler rather than a grudge purchase, he believes.”
